We can all rest now as the summer transfers for this 2020 finally winds down. Expectedly though, Barca saw many first team players leave the club. But, contrary to what most fans would have actually expected for a club undergoing a rebuilding process, FC Barcelona barely made just one signing the whole summer.

SOLD PLAYERS

Several first team players were told to find new clubs for being surplus to requirements. This involved a clearance sale that saw Rakitic, Vidal, Suarez, Semedo, Rafinha, Todibo, Monchu, Cuenca, etc all exit the club outrightly or on loan basis.

FIRST TEAM PROMOTION

This season, three Barca B players were promoted to the first team. Ansu Fati, Riqui Puig, and Araujo have all been permanently promoted to the first team.

This will be the first time in years Barca has witnessed such key promotions from their academy players at once, not even the golden days of the Pep Guardiola era. The good thing about the promotion is that the young lads are not in the first team to just respect the older experienced players, but have solid chances of starting a game. This was seen on Sunday when both Ansu Fati and Araujo both started in the 1-1 draw against Sevilla at Camp Nou.

We also expect players like Konrad and Peña to be called up from Barca B with time, especially for the cup games.

SUMMER TRANSFER ACTIVITIES

Barca officially signed five players for the 2020/2021 season, but only Dest Sergino (Ajax) and Matheus Fernandes (Palmeiras) were signed in the just concluded summer transfer. The rest are Trincao (Braga), Pjanic (Juventus) and Pedri.
