The match against Sevilla at the Sanchez Pizjuan may not be the match Barca fans may be interested in at the moment, even though it is equally as important. All eyes are expectedly more focused on the return leg of the Copa Del Rey at the Camp Nou on March 3rd, 2021 an the Champions League.
Sevilla stunned the La Blaugrana with a 2 – 0 victory a fortnight ago. That loss has put Barca in a tight corner, and the coach is going to bear the brunt of it. But, that’s not the only thing the former Barca captain will be thinking about remedying today and in the month of March.
Here are three things Ronald Koeman must do to guarantee his future at Barca or risk being fired –
1) Win Against Sevilla Today
As a top of the table contest, the match between Sevilla v FC Barcelona is a game anyone can take, especially with the fact that both are within distance of each other in the league table.
In the first leg at Camp Nou, both teams played out a draw. But, in terms of morale, obviously, Sevilla have the upper hand after the 2-0 victory in the Copa Del Rey first leg.
Barca is a wounded lion at the moment fighting for their campaign which seem to be getting beyond their reach as the days go by. This is why today’s match is a must win for Koeman.
A loss sets the team back in the league, and may be the final straw. Barca can take delight though in the fact that Sevilla are yet to record any victory against them in the past couple of years in La Liga. But, we said that of PSG sometime ago too.
2) Win Sevilla Again On Wednesday, 8th March, 2021.
This is a no brainer. Winning against Sevilla in the Copa Del Rey return leg at the Camp Nou is of utmost priority at the moment.
Though surmounting a 2-0 defeat is not an easy task, it has been done many times at the Camp Nou. The team may not be playing spectacular at the moment, but a single spectacular showing on the day is enough to guarantee a win. Who knows, the good Lord may have Messi on Barca.
Ronald Koeman must ensure that he takes the bull by the horn and gain two over the Seville based club.
3) Stun PSG and The Football World.
Nothing is impossible in football, so don’t laugh, please. I am not dreaming right now, and I don’t know how the Barca Coach and his squad is going to achieve it, but it is not impossible.
With elections coming by March, all eyes will be focused on what the next Barca president will do soon afterwards. Part of the decisions to be taken will be about Ronald Koeman.
How the Barca gaffe takes care of this three crucial games will go a long way in determining his continued stay at the club.
