Barca’s Defender, Sergino Dest, Becomes First American Player To Score A Brace In La Liga After 6-1 Win

The new Barca system which seemed to be the perfect answer to a lot of problems suffered by Barca in the past, has benefitted Sergino Dest a lot.

Signed last summer as a direct replacement for Nelson Semedo, Dest’s earlier injury crisis affected his performances, with the coach at one time telling the American to work on his focus on field. Dest definitely took that advise and have turned things around for himself ever since.

As part of the vital cogs in Koeman’s 3-5-2 formation, Dest has exploded in the attacking field of recent, providing a needed width, space and pace to allow Messi and Dembele run riot while providing cover. But, his role doesn’t stop at providing covers and running the opponents to the ground across the midfield area. Sergino Dest also have the license to move forward when Barca is in possession and attacking the opponent.

Against Real Sociedad, the tactics worked perfectly well that La Real were simply overwhelmed and Dest capitalized with two (2) astounding goals. That is a hard thing to come by for strikers this days, but no for the on form American, Sergino Dest, a full back.

According to the young American –

“I am really happy. It’s incredible to win 6-1 against a great opponent. I am also happy to score two goals and to help the team. It was the first time I’ve scored in La Liga and the sensations are really good.”

The goals has placed Sergino Dest as the only US player to score a brace in La Liga. FC Barcelona will hope that their priced asset will continue to score more and wreak more havoc for a lot of European defenders.
