Barca’s Fate Now In Their Control As Real Betis Calls Madrid’s Bluff

Barca won familiar foes, Villarreal in a tricky fixture over the weekend after Griezmann called Chukwueze’s bluff and registered two goals on the night to win the Man of the Match Award.

If FC Barcelona’s current free scoring form can be relied on, Real Madrid may have effectively shot themselves twice in as many match days  with their recent draw against a high flying Real Betis side.

After a 3-0 win against Cadiz during the week, expectations were high for a win. However, those expectations have been dashed by a team not many people may be familiar with their own resurgence, Real Betis.

The draw against Real Betis has put Real Madrid in a corner which they may not have hoped for, especially after defeating Barca in a fierce El Clasico encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu. But, when a team in La Liga drops a point, another team takes it.

The game against Villareal is a huge season decider for Barca who are going to ride or die now that they know their odds of winning the league have upped it’s ante and in their own control. With an outstanding match to play for on Thursday and a La Liga showdown with league leaders, Atletico Madrid, it is pretty much clear what needs to be done.

Despite the defeat to Real Madrid in El Clasico, Barca have continued to maintain a remarkable goal scoring record spearheaded by the captain of the team, Lionel Messi. With just 6 matches to play for, Barca will hope that their fine scoring form will lead the team to glory.
