UEFA Euro 2020: Top Scorers

In a surprising twist of fate, England came from behind to secure a 2 – 1 win against Denmark yesterday in the last semi-final of Euro 2020. Once again, it was Harry Kane who came to the rescue and landed the English side a final berth against Italy.

The strike takes his overall tally in the tournament to four (4), just one goal shy of the competitions top scorer, C. Ronaldo.

Unlike the Portuguese, Kane will have the opportunity to ascend the chart if he scores at least two goals in the finals.

His compatriot, Raheem Sterling can also take the position if he can score two more goals in the finals. His single assist in the tournament means that he will have the upper hand to win the honour if his country beat Italy. Cristiano Ronaldo had five goals (5) and one (1) assist before they were eliminated from the competition.

Italy’s qualification also means that Immobile, Locatteli and Pessina all have a chance. With two assists and two goals so far, Ciro Immobile only needs 3 more goals to win it. Well, that’s assuming that Sterling and Harry Kane shoot blanks till the fulltime whistle is blown in the penultimate game of UEFA Euro 2020.
