Messi Exit: Barca President to Hold Press Conference by 11 AM [CET]

Following the sudden announcement by FC Barcelona that Lionel Messi will no longer be playing for the Catalan giants, Joan Laporta has scheduled a press conference today to lift the lid on developments.

La Blaugrana stunned the whole football world in an unexpected twist of events when they announced the departure of the Argentine superstar from the club.

All news reports were positive that a deal was in the offing for the former Barca captain, and that it was just a few financial hiccups that needed to be addressed. When La Liga announced that it has secured a deal with CVC Investment, everything seemed alright and going according to plans.

However, it appears that what was thought will be a relief was a disaster from the point of La Liga clubs. Therefore the said lucrative deal cannot happen at the moment until a vital meeting of La Liga football clubs is done to discuss how it affects them in the long term.

According to reports, the investment is long term in nature, with a lifespan of up to 50yrs. It is believed this is a bondage and hence the reason why it is not accepted wholeheartedly.

The decision orchestrated the breakdown of contract talks with Leo who was allegedly reported to have taken a pay cut to remain at the club.
Barca supremo, Joan Laporta is expected to clear the dusts surrounding the Messi enigma in a press conference today by 11am [CET].

Some fans are citing that Barca may be pulling a stunt to make La Liga reconsider their stance on giving them a soft landing to register Messi. This conspiracy spews from perceptions that the deal secured by La Liga may not come to fruition without Messi in FC Barcelona shirt.

On their part, FC Barcelona has
blamed ‘financial and structural obstacles’ as the main reason for the Argentine’s departure.
But, we keep our fingers crossed.

We will keep updating with more details on the Messi saga as it develops.
