I am one of those people who grew up watching Brendan dazzle in his roles, but especially as the character O’connor in the Mummy franchise. Watching him on screen, you would instantly conclude that he easily pulls off good dramatic and comedic acts gracefully.
But, the American star hasn’t quite enjoyed a nice ride since his rise to stardom in the 1990’s. The George of the Jungle actor had a difficult spell that lasted several years, throwing him off the limelight.
During the early years of the 21st century, he had a series of fractures and dislocations that required several surgical procedures to correct. He spent more years with the doctors and recovery procedures than he literally had for acting. Reports has it that he preferred to do his own stunts as opposed to doubles.
Well, as if that’s not enough, his marriage ended. The dissolution proceedings didn’t quite go well for Brendan and he was mandated to pay $900,000 in matrimonial reliefs and child support to the wife. This was in 2007.
Around 2013, due to less screen time and loss of revenue streams, he went back to the court to have the alimony reduced. Although the ex-wife contested the appeal, they later had an out of court settlement.
Then in 2018, he implicated the President of Hollywood Foreign Press Association (Golden Globes), accusing the top exec of sexual assault.
Brendan said –
“His left-hand reaches around grabs my ass cheek, and one of his fingers touches me in the taint. And he starts moving it around,
“I felt ill. I felt like a little kid. I felt like there was a ball in my throat. I thought I was going to cry.” the actor stated.
Although he doesn’t entirely blame the incident as the reason why the calls stopped coming, he thinks it has something to do with it. But, that may be a thing of the past for now because he is finally getting enough screen time and back in the limelight.
After starring in Doom Patrol, Condor, No Sudden Move and other films, Brendan Fraser is set to star alongside Leo DiCaprio and Robert DeNiro in
Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon”. The movie is billed to be a big blockbuster when it’s out, especially due to the directors long history of creating art through his movies.
The Hollywood veteran director, Martin Scorsese has movies like “The Wolf of Wall Street” “The Departed” “The Irishman” “Goodfellas” “Shutter Island”, etc. in his belt. He is also the second most nominated film director for the Oscar awards after William Wyler.
Brendan Fraser may not be the main star of the FBI biopic, but being a cast in a movie with a $200m budget is a good step in the right direction.
