FC Barcelona returns to Winning ways as Teenage Sensation steals the show

For all their woes this season, FC Barcelona is still one of the few clubs in La Liga who are unbeaten in the league so far. Against Levante yesterday, the Catalan giant’s continued their unbeaten streak with a wonderful performance at Nou Camp that saw them run away with a    3-0 win.

Coming from a lackluster performance against Cadiz on Thursday that included missing a clear sitter, Memphis Depay banished his goal missing demons away when he slotted in his penalty past a hapless Levante goalie to hand the Catalans their first goal of the match after being fouled in the yard box.

Barca’s pressure on their opponents skyrocketed from there onwards, and under fifteen (15) minutes, Sergino Dest pulled through off his markers before sliding a pass to Luuk De Jong who didn’t waste time to convert and make it 2-0 for FC Barcelona in the first half.

Despite the barrage of attacks and counter-attacks orchestrated by Barca on the night, they failed to convert any well into the second half of the game. In the 81st minute of the match, teenage sensation Ansu Fati was introduced into the game, a moment that all Barca faithful have been waiting for.

Expectedly, the youngster didn’t disappoint after his introduction, dazzling the Nou Camp crowd with his mesmerizing touches and ability to take on defenders. On a good day, a penalty should have been awarded the young lad for a harsh tackle on him in the opponents box, but apparently, the referee thought he would be playing to the gallery were he to award the penalty kick to the youngster.

However, a few minutes later, Ansu Fati had his moment and never disappointed. After picking up the ball with ease from his marker, he went forward with it before shooting a low shot on goal which ended at the back of the net to mark a memorable come back after 323 days. The goal was also Barca’s third of the night which effectively sealed their three points, jumping to 5th position as a result.

FC Barcelona will now divert attention to their Champions League game on Wednesday and will be hoping that the team maintains its new found winning formula.

Final Scores: FC Barcelona 3 – 0 Levante
