Barca News Updates: Dembele told to Leave, Dembele fires back with Legal Warning, A. Fati & Pedri injured again, + more

Another day, same story. It’s no longer news that FC Barcelona is a club in dire need of new messiah’s after being knocked out of the Copa del Rey competition by familial foes.

There are so many news emerging from the Nou Camp and not all are good. Here are some of the latest Barca News and Transfer Updates –

Ousmanne Dembele has been told to Leave club before end of January, 2022

The Barca director of sporting activities, Mateu Alemany earlier gave a press briefing, stating that the French star has been told to leave the club in the current transfer window. The news came after a 48hrs ultimatum given to Dembele elapsed.

The club already told the player to clarify his transfer position which he allegedly did by saying he won’t be renewing his contract with the Catalan giants. In response, FC Barcelona asked him to leave or risk being frozen out of the team.

Speaking ahead of the Copa del Rey match against Bilbao, Mateu Alemany said –

“With Ousmane and his agents we started conversations around the month of July.

“In all this time, almost seven months, we have talked, Barca has made different offers, we have tried to find a way for the player to continue with us and those offers have been continuously rejected by his agents. It seems obvious to us that the player does not want to continue at Barcelona and is not committed to Barca’s future project.

“We told him and his agents that he must leave the club immediately because we want to have players committed to the project. We expect a transfer to take place before January 31. The sporting consequence is that we don’t want to have players who don’t want to be at Barca.”

Dembele fires back at Barca with Legal Warning

Responding to the news of his exit as insinuated by the director, Dembele took to his Instagram to make an official statement on the issue, citing “blackmail”. He also reminded the club that he was still under contract and completely trusts his agent to handle his transfer related issues.

“I forbid anyone to speak in my place, in place of my agent, who I have complete confidence in. I am still under contract. I am fully at the disposal of my club and my coach.

“I am not a man who cheats and even less a man who has a habit of giving in to blackmail. Surely, love is a kind of blackmail. There are negotiations. I let my agent handle it, it is his turf.

“My field is football, simply playing football, sharing moments of joy with my team-mates, our supporters. Let’s focus on the essentials – winning.”

What next for Dembele?

FC Barcelona Responds to Dembele’s Legal Warning

Responding to the media, Mateu Alemany reechoed the club’s stance on Dembele, citing that they have had enough. He said –

“We started negotiating with Ousmane’s agents some six months ago.

“He has been offered different deals, we have been on top of the situation. I believe it’s been long enough for the player to decide where his future lies.

“There are 11 days left in the January transfer window for registering players, our understanding is after this length process, the player has decided he wants to leave and clearly we have informed him that we want players who are committed to Barca and Barca’s future.

“He should probably leave as soon as possible both for his own good at Barca’s good. He has been informed as such and based on that, the coach’s technical decision is in line with the club’s position and how things have progressed.”

Apparently, we are still yet to see the end of the Dembele transfer saga.

Ansu Fati and Pedri Injured again

This is definitely the last news anyone wants to hear right now, but here we go again. Both players who recently returned from long term injury lay offs limped out of the game with Athletic Bilbao.

Although tests are required to know the extent of the injuries, it is confirmed that Ansu Fati suffered a hamstring.
