With the tail end of the league around the corner, Barca welcomed Atletico Madrid to the Camp Nou with a resounding 4-2 victory as their fans cheered them on.
Coming from difficult road trips across the country and playing for the first time before their home supporters this year 2022, FC Barcelona needed to make a big statement of intent.
It seemed like old woes resurfaced again when Carrasco opened the scoring in the 8th minute. Jordi Alba’s equaliser two minutes later gave Barca the needed reprieve to take matters into their own hands in the 10th minute.
The Catalans found their footing in the game afterwards, with Gavi scoring in the 21st minute while Ronald Araujo scored in the 43 minutes mark to give Barca 3-1 lead against Atletico.
Dani Alves soon put the scoreline out of Atletico Madrid’s reach with a well timed finish from a sublime Pedri flick to make it 4-1. Dani Alves will later get red carded for an unfortunate incident.
Although Luis Suarez managed to pull one back for Diego Simeone’s side, it was not enough to launch a come back despite FC Barcelona being one man down.
FC Barcelona was very busy in the recently ended January transfer, leading to acquisition of stars like Ferran Torres, Adama Traore and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. All three played as the Catalan giants cruised to a 4-1 scoreline within 50mins, sending fans into euphoria as to what to expect. Adama Traore provided an assist.
The victory means Barca are now 4th in the table and just a single point away from Real Betis who are 3rd on the log.
