Following his lucrative deal with Netflix to produce some dark movies, Zack Snyder has stated that new cast members has been added to the star studded space mashup.
In an earlier tweet today, the “300” director said –
Honored to welcome this incredible cast to Rebel Moon. Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, and Ray Fisher join previously announced Sofia Boutella. Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, & Sky Yang round out the cast. More to come. Let’s go! #RebelMoon @Netflix
The casting sees Ray Fisher (who portrayed Cyborg in Zack Snyder’s Justice League) join up with the movie’s ever expanding cast.
Zack Snyder was earlier drafted by Warner Bros to lay the foundation for it’s movies franchise popularly known as the DC Extended Universe. Things didn’t work out quite as planned between both parties before Netflix snapped up the veteran director to pilot it’s “Army of the Dead” franchise.
Rebel Moon will be co-written by Shay Hatten (co-wrote Army of the Dead) and Kurt Johnstad (worked on ‘300’) alongside Zack Snyder. The Sci-Fi epic is deemed to be in same ranks as Star Wars but more dark and grittier as is Zack Snyder’s signature style.
The story is set in motion when a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. Desperate, the colonists dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand.
Additional plot information released in November 2021:
