Golden Club: Burna Boy becomes first African Artist to reach 200million streams on Boomplay

One after the “African Giant” was celebrated on Africa’s number 1 streaming platform, Boomplay, Burna Boy has doubled down on his feat.

The Grammy award winning star enjoys massive streaming streaming on the platform. His last album “Twice as Tall” is Burnaboy’s highest played song, garnering over 80million streams since it’s release in 2020. His previous album “African Giant” also did well in terms of performance and audience reach and currently stands at 43million streams according to Boomplay records.

The award plaque was given to the artist by Tosin Sorinola, Boomplay Director of Artists and Media Relations. According to her –

“This is another iconic feat for Burna Boy, Boomplay and the entire African music industry.

“This achievement shows that fans in Africa are fast catching up to the digitisation of music and streaming which Boomplay is championing. With this development, artists can earn even more on our platform.

“Burna Boy is a massively talented singer whose works will continue to affect people positively across Africa and the rest of the world. We are proud of what he is doing and his milestone achievements on Boomplay; to this effect, we, at Boomplay present this plaque to him in special recognition of his contributions so far in the industry and are looking forward to even more extraordinary achievements.”

The “Ye” crooner also dropped a new single titled “Balon d’Or” ft WizKid.
