Following the Twitter buyout by Elon Musk from a journey that started five (5) years ago, a lot has been happening behind the scenes.
One of the key burning questions after the announcement of the Twitter takeover is the issue of free speech. Elon Musk has maintained in the past that Twitter has to be neutral, especially due to it’s status as the go to place for discussion of issues bothering human progress.
In response to this question that has continued to raise interest, the new Twitter supremo took to his handle to address the issue. He said –
“For Twitter to deserve public trust, it must be politically neutral, which effectively means upsetting the far right and the far left equally”.
Cancel culture is currently a big problem facing the social media platform. Among other expected changes, majority of users want a platform where they can honestly say their mind without trying to be politically correct, thereby increasing online bullying.
