007: Top 5 Candidates for the Next James Bond Movie (2022)

Even before “No Time to Die” hit the theaters last year, there was already a plan underway for the casting of the next James Bond for the big screen after it was confirmed that Daniel Craig will be leaving the iconic spy role.

Expectedly, this has brought up a lot of campaigns and raised serious talks in the MSM. Here is a look at our top 5 James Bond castings for the 007 role –

5. Daniel Radcliffe

When it comes to character manifestation, we can all give it to Daniel Radcliffe who spearheaded the iconic Harry Potter role.

A British citizen, Daniel has shown over the years that he isn’t really looking to helm any big franchise since the end of the Harry Potter saga.

However, Daniel Radcliffe is among the leading figures tipped to land the iconic role due to his versatile acting abilities.

4. Tom Hardy

Recent odds had seen Tom Hardy fall back to 10/1 or even lower in odds for the role. However, Boyle Sports has offered the “Venom” star a far better chance and Hardy has shot up this week from an already improved 8/1.

Spokesperson Sarah Kinsella said: “We are seeing a large increase in bets placed on Tom Hardy to be the next James Bond as the Mad Max star is now 4/1 from 8/1.”

Kinsella added: “Hardy ticks a lot of boxes and this is not the first time speculative bets have arrived for the Venom star. Rege-Jean Page has drifted out to 9/4 from 2/1, but is still clinging on to favouritism at this stage.”

Tom Hardy is not a stranger to spy thriller and action flicks himself, having starred in “Black Hawk Down”, “This Means War”, “The Dark Knight Rises” and “Mad Max: Fury Road”.

3. Henry Cavil

The “Man of Steel” as he is popularly known is also another leading figure for the iconic role.

Although the sequel to the Man of Steel is still a long shot from happening at DC films for the moment, Henry Cavil’s star power is increasingly on the rise with the success of “The Witcher” and “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.”

Henry Cavil is no stranger to the spy world and has starred in “The Man from U.N.C.L.E” and “Mission Impossible 6”, which roles gives him a considerable edge over the other candidates.

1. Richard Madden

Richard Madden’s star has been rising since his iconic role in Game of Thrones. The British actor has starred in two successful flicks since then between the big screen “Eternals” and small screen “The Bodyguard”.

Richard’s role in the drama thriller “The Bodyguard” is probably his most well received outing, and helped him cement his role as a great actor. Also, the role has primed him for the James Bond character.

The odds are very high for Richards to nab the 007 role, but he has a major competition in the person of Sam Heughan.

1. Sam Heughan

Of all the James Bond potential castings, Sam Heughan may seem like the odd one out due to his lack of big hit movies like his compatriots.

That notwithstanding, Sam may actually be the leading figure to take the role if the direction of the James Bond series is changing as planned.

Sam Heughan has the swag, is very handsome and British. His body build is on par with Henry Cavil and he has a good thing going for him with the “Outlander” series.

Also, unlike the other candidates, Sam is relatively fresh to the big screen and is not associated with any major cinema project at the moment.

Therefore, he is free from all encumbrances and will offer the franchise the needed fresh face to reboot the Daniel Craig led spy series. Also, he has previously auditioned for the role in the past before Daniel Craig was chosen.
